The Under 6 Phantoms travelled to Armidale this weekend to play Easts Green for the third time and showed just how much they’ve improved this season. All the Phantoms had a great game and are really starting to play well as a team. Lani Vidler had a game to remember, scoring her first goal! Then she scored her second. Then her third, and also her fourth! True story. Well done Lani!!
Under 6 Caspers had a tough game against TAS but their teamwork shone through and they scored some great goals! Great game Caspers!
The Under 7 spooks travelled to Armidale to take on Armidale City Westside Blue Whales. Due to school holidays and sickness, our team was down two players. Thanks to Edmond from the Under 6 team who stepped up to help out our team, joined briefly by Haidee who was called to help another team. They joined Roy, Frazer and Fletcher for the game. Our team is working on passing and position on the field. They are demonstrating great sportsmanship. They are improving every week.
Under 8 Goosebumps played in Armidale this week against Armidale City Goannas. With Guyra two players short the game was 5 on 5 and it helped both teams with a lot of good passing. Guyra played well in defence especially in the second half allowing the Armidale city only one shot at goal. Elinor and Haidee had great games and Vinnie, Sterling and Orlando had good games in attack and defence and were the team’s goal scorers.
Under 10s Phoenix hosted Armidale Norths in Guyra on Saturday. Guyra began the game strong with some quality play and the game going a goal for goal. Unfortunately, the play was then a little rushed and crowded on a slightly smaller field compared to previous weeks. This resulted in a little bunching up and not marking up, which Norths then took the advantage and the upper hand with a few quick goals. Players are still playing very well.
Under 12s travelled to Armidale this week to play the DK team. Things started slow for the Guyra side and unfortunately were caught napping with an off side run by the DK team to open their account. Guyra tried hard to get back into the game but were a little flat. DK managed to find the back of the net with an unmarked player on the back post to go into half time 2-0.
The second half sore the kids hop into gear and go about their normal game. Lots of backwards and forwards play in an attack and then defence saw the game close out as a 2-0 win to DK.
Standouts this week were Matthew in defence. Harry up front, and best on field this week was Charles with a hard thought game.
Under 14s played in Guyra this past weekend against the top of the table Westside team. It was a close game first half with some younger kids stepping up again in a team that lost players for the school holidays. Guyra opened the scoring halfway thought the half to take a 1 nil lead almost into the half time break. Unfortunately Westside was able to level up in the closing couple of minutes for 1 all at half time. The second half was close in the first 15 minutes, then Westside hit the lead and didn’t look back with a couple of quick goals to win the game. Great games from Kayne Brennan in keeper and Taharn in the field kept Guyra in the game.
