Ninety golfers contest Vets Open

Winner of the4BBB Medley Herb Wilson and Tom Crosier with Nancy Prisk
11th Mar 2025

On Monday and Tuesday the 3rd and 4th March was the Guyra Vets Golf open. Numbers were down a little with so much district golf on at the moment, but we still attracted about 90 players over the two days and all seemed to enjoy our great course and the hospitality of our club.
As always our wonderful sponsors contribute largely to the success of these days so thank you to the Bowling Club. Thank you to Costas tomatoes. Thank you Jones, Cracknell and Starr and thank you to Elders. You are all very much appreciated.
The first day was the 4BBB open medley event. The winners of this went to Tom Crosier and Herb Wilson with Ray Sweeney and Terry Varley the runners up. NTPs went to Terry Varley, Kerry Bull and Tom Crosier with straightest drives going to Trish McCanna and Rowan Chandler.
On Tuesday we played the Guyra Vets Open. This was for all Vets, ladies, and men and again some great golf was witnessed. For the ladies the winner was Shona Mulligan with a great 36 points, just nudging out Jenny Rogers on a count back also with 36 points and runner up.
For the men the A grade winner was Craig Hulls on 38 points to runner up Greg Constantine on 37. In the B grade Tom Crosier backed up his win on Monday to score 39 points for the win over runner up Don Campbell on 37. NTPs went to Wendy George (2) Kerry Bull, Bob Baker, Allan Collins and David Carr. Straightest drives went to Kerry Bull and David Heath.
We again welcomed many visitors from our district plus visitors from Brisbane, Yamba and Goondiwindi and any others I may have missed. Thanks to the hard work from our local organisers for the success of the open. Our next major event is our week of golf in October. Should be great.
Drake.
