Vets Golf
Last Tuesday saw the first round of Pennants held at Armidale, with a massive field of 145 players making for a very successful day. Armidale locals made up almost half of the field, and their home-ground tactics proved rewarding as they cruised to a comfortable win.
Guyra had a strong representation of both lady and men vets but could only manage fourth place on the day. With four rounds still to play, we are very much still in contention.
Neil Paine was best for Guyra with 40 points, finishing runner-up in B Grade. Wal Chapman followed closely with 37 points, while Jenny Rodgers posted a solid 36 points, keeping Guyra well in the mix.
Next Tuesday will see Guyra host a Stableford event.

Sunday Golf
This weekend is the much anticipated mixed championships, so if you haven’t already got a partner there is still time to organise someone, it would be great to see a big contingent roll up.
The following weekend is the final round of the Shire Cup where the men will compete in 14 individual matchplay events with plenty of points up for grabs and the Guyra group holding onto a slender lead.
The following weekend will be the first rounds of the Men’s Club Championships. This year looks to be very competitive in all grades with some new players on board for the season.
Last of all don’t forget the Golf presentation night is to be held on Friday the 13th of February at the Guyra Bowling Club.
This promises to be a great night with awards for the winners of all major events of the past year and also awards to the past two years of winners of the very popular midweek competition.
So come along for a fun night with entertainment from local star Shane Garrett.
Cost is $35 which includes a roast dinner and entry into a free golf membership for the upcoming season.
Tickets to be purchased at the Guyra Bowling Club before the 9th of February
Hope to see you there
