The Rotary Club of Guyra held its annual Changeover on Saturday evening with a dinner at Rafters. Hans Hietbrink is continuing in the role of president. He thanked members of the Club as well as members of the community who have supported the Rotary Club for their continuing contribution to the work of Rotary in Guyra.
During the evening, David Kanaley was made a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of his enormous contribution to the Rotary Club of Guyra in his role as Project Manager for the Rotary Community Hall restoration project, as well as for his contribution to the Guyra Community generally through the Guyra Garden Club and projects such as the Mandala Garden, and volunteering at St Vincent de Paul.
To receive this recognition, the Rotary Club of Guyra has contributed US$1000 to the Rotary Foundation in David’s name. It is through gifts like this that the Rotary Foundation can carry out its many programs that achieve beneficial changes in our world.
David was presented with his Paul Harris Fellow pin by Past District Governor Bob Ryan.
Also during the evening, Hans highlighted donations made by the Club to local schools and other organisations and to charities such as Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Backtrack, Armidale Women’s Shelter, and Guyra VRA.
Hans said that the Rotary Club, while small in numbers, is very active in the Guyra Community and punches above its weight in supporting local and international projects.
