Guyra was transported back in time over the weekend as the Lotus Club Queensland (LCQ) Grand Tour rolled into town on Saturday, July 5th.
Not since the Guyra Grand
Parade was held back in the 1990s has the community seen such an impressive display of vintage and exotic race cars gracing its streets.
Starting their journey in Queensland, the convoy of Lotus vehicles made an early stop at the Tenterfield Railway Museum for breakfast, before continuing on through the scenic New England Highway to Guyra.
By 10:30am, the first sleek machines had begun arriving on Bradley Street, drawing car enthusiasts and locals eager to view the vehicles.
There was much conjecture among locals as to the correct term for a group of Lotus cars – a garden, a bunch, a lagoon and even a plague were some of the suggestions.
The vibrant display outside the Burgess Garage Car Museum, with the overflow in the car park next door, became the focal point of the morning with friendly faces, waves, and smiles.
The Guyra Evening Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) provided a delicious morning tea spread for the drivers.
Following their Guyra visit, the convoy headed down the Waterfall Way through Bellingen, before making their way to Grafton for the next leg of the tour.
Locals who witnessed the spectacle agreed it was a memorable day and many took the opportunity to be photographed with the cars and drivers.
