Funding to celebrate Seniors in Guyra

25th Nov 2025

Local seniors in Guyra will be treated to a warm, welcoming celebration next March, with a special NSW Seniors Festival event. Thanks to funding from the NSW Seniors Festival Grant Program, up to 50 seniors will enjoy a free two-course hot meal, drinks, and live “old-time tunes” musical entertainment, all aimed at fostering social connection, physical activity and community spirit.
The event is part of the statewide Seniors Festival, running from March 2nd to 15th 2026, Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan said he was delighted that Armidale Regional Council successfully secured $4,500 to host the catered event in Guyra, ensuring local seniors can celebrate close to home.
“The NSW Seniors Festival is about showing older people across the state that they are valued, and we appreciate the way they contribute to our communities,” Mr Moylan said.
“Armidale Regional Council will hold a special event in Guyra featuring a hot meal, drinks and musical entertainment to encourage older people to remain active, healthy and engaged. It’s an excellent initiative, and I hope the community embraces it.”
In addition to the Guyra celebration, Glen Innes Severn Council received $10,000 to run ‘Re-Wired’, a two-week multi-venue program featuring cultural, artistic, creative and wellbeing activities across the district.
