Budding Scientists at Bald Blair Public School

18th Nov 2025

On Wednesday, 5th November, students from Years Three to Six had the incredible opportunity to visit the University of New England to take part in the engaging Far Out Science Day. This event was designed to allow students to participate in scientific exploration, giving them hands-on experience within real university labs.
One workshop involved learning the traditional process of making butter from cream, allowing students to understand the chemistry behind emulsification. Students explored the complexities of the human brain. Using models and interactive displays, they discovered how different parts of the brain control various functions and behaviours. Students also investigated muscle tension by conducting experiments to measure how muscles respond to different stimuli. The day concluded with a workshop featuring virtual reality technology, where students experienced the challenge of mustering cattle into yards.
We can’t wait to go back next year!
