The Guyra Landcare Network hosted the Biosecurity On-Farm: A Practical Perspective event, held on October 23rd at the Guyra Community Hall.
It was a fantastic success, with good attendance and lively audience engagement throughout the day.
Local farmers and stakeholders gathered to hear from expert speakers, including Dr. Nigel Brown, Andrew Scott, and Jessira Saunders, who each delivered insightful presentations on managing biosecurity risks, weed control, and industry standards for livestock assurance.
Ellie Keyte from Local Land S ervices (LLS) in Inverell and local landholder Anthony Rosser gave an informative talk about the success of the two recent aerial shoots held in the Ben Lomond area - over 1200 feral pigs eradicated and nearly 500 deer as a result of these initiatives.
The interactive panel discussion and stalls from local businesses added further depth to the day’s focus on practical, actionable biosecurity strategies.
A big thank you to our sponsors Nutrien Guyra, Ben Lomond Landcare Group, Grazag, Guyra Rural Services and Armidale Regional Council without whom the day wouldn’t have been possible.
