Black Mountain Nursery marks 40-Year Milestone

02nd Dec 2025

Established in 1985 by Pam and Gordon Youman, Black Mountain Nursery is preparing to celebrate an impressive 40 years in business on Sunday, 7th December 2025.
The community is warmly invited to join the celebrations, with a special presentation beginning at 11am. The day will also include the official opening of the nursery’s newly built waterwheel, along with the announcement of prize draw winners.
What began modestly, with a few farm trees grown in a vegetable garden, has flourished into a thriving enterprise. Pam and Gordon never imagined the nursery would grow to its current scale.
Today, Black Mountain Nursery spans 10 acres, supplies an extensive range of plants both locally and interstate, and employs 15 local staff.
Reflecting on the journey, Gordon said, “I believe we may be the highest nursery in Australia. Like many businesses we have survived many challenges from droughts, hailstorms, to snowstorms. Pam has developed a great trade name for the nursery with her industry networking and her business reputation, which is a great credit to her and our staff.”
Pam added that the celebration is as much about gratitude as it is about marking a milestone: “The day is not only to celebrate 40 years in business but to thank customers, staff, associated businesses, families and individuals who have supported our journey over the years.”
