Progress Association welcomes new executive

The Guyra & Community Progress Association (GCPA) held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2025,
with founding President Donna Davidson stepping down after more than three years of service.
“I am extremely proud of all our achievements and strong relationships formed for the future of the Guyra & Community Progress Association,” Donna said.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce our new incoming Executive Committee for 2025.”

Donna, who has led the association since its inception in June 2022, shared her final report reflecting on the organisation’s growth over the past three years. Formed by a small group with a vision to build a vibrant, united community, the GCPA began making an impact almost immediately.
2022 highlights included:
• Lane Pittman Family Day at Guyra Showground (July)
• Christmas Pop-Up photo display
• Launch of the Guyra Christmas Light Competition
• Securing $157,765 under the Building Stronger Communities Fund
Major achievements in 2023:
• Southern highway billboard installed
• ANZAC Day poppy display
• Easter skating workshop for children
• Open Garden fundraiser at Di Crossing’s garden
• Stone wall entrances with solar lighting
• Painting of bikes in Bradley Street
• Installation of murals
• Community defibrillators (x2)
• Guyra Snow Ball
• Showground Hall upgrades (dishwasher, crockery, cutlery)
• Welcome BBQ & VRA first aid day
• Gardens around Council Chambers
• Solar lights in Main Street
• Christmas window display competition
• Met with Adam Marshall MP re pedestrian crossing on highway (still in the pipeline)
• Creation of pedestrian crossings in Main Street
• Christmas decorations for Kolora and Hospital donated via community member
• New Year’s Eve family celebration
In 2024, the momentum continued with:
• Terrafirma Band family event at the Showground
• Ollera Open Garden fundraiser
• NAB Carpark garden beautification
• Security cameras installed outside Post Office
• Purchase of shipping containers for showground storage facility
• “Morris the Prop” Christmas family photo display at Rotary Christmas Carnival
• Christmas light competition
• New Year’s Eve event
2025 achievements to date include:
• ANZAC mural by Kay Smith at Apex Shelter
• Planned Guyra Snow Ball (cancelled due to severe snowstorm)
• Kolora Garden and driveway tree project
• Meeting with Brendan Moylan MP (31 July), discussing:
sProposed highway pedestrian crossing and speed zone extension to Everett Street
o Potential 55+ retirement village near the hospital and Kolora
o Colourbond fencing around police yard
In her final address, Donna expressed gratitude for the dedication and friendship of members and supporters.
“I feel very proud of what our association and members have achieved over the last three years” Donna said.
“Thank you all for your support and friendship during my time as President.”
