Stage 3 students from Guyra Central School recently embarked on an exciting educational adventure, participating in the Far Out Science Day held at the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale. The event provided the students with a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on science activities and experiments, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.
During the visit, the students took part in a variety of interactive workshops designed to challenge their understanding of scientific concepts and encourage critical thinking. From conducting chemical reactions to exploring physics through practical demonstrations, the children were actively involved in discovering how science applies to the world around them.
Far Out Science Day aims to inspire young learners by offering a dynamic environment where education meets exploration. UNE’s faculty and student volunteers guided the Guyra Central School students through experiments that fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
The day was not only educational but also fun and memorable, with students expressing excitement about the experiments and the new scientific principles they learned. Teachers from Guyra Central School noted the importance of experiences like these in boosting students’ interest in science and supporting their ongoing learning journey.
Far Out Science Day at UNE continues to be a highlight in the educational calendar, encouraging primary students from across the region to explore science beyond the classroom and consider future careers in STEM fields.
