Black Mountain Public School celebrates Student Leadership and Remembrance

18th Nov 2025

On Monday, November 3rd, Year 6 leaders Mikyla Patterson and Bella Kennedy travelled to Armidale to attend the Snow Gums and Highland Community School Leaders Lunch. Mr Brendan Moylan was the guest speaker, and it was very interesting to hear him share his perspectives on leadership with everyone. Mr Ian Reeves (Director, Educational Leadership) was also in attendance to wish the leaders well in the next step of their education journey. Congratulations to Mikyla and Bella for demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities in their final year of primary school and we wish them well as their learning journey continues in high school.
On Tuesday, November 11th, the entire school gathered for a solemn Remembrance Day Service, united in commemorating those who died or suffered during their service in wars, conflicts and peace operations.
This year marks the 80th anniversary since the end of the Second World War. This global conflict saw almost one million Australians enlist to serve their nation on the home front and overseas. The ceremony was led by our Year 5/6 Leaders as we paused in silence to acknowledge the sacrifices made in service of our country. On this day and always, we remember them.
