Senior League
The Super Spuds could field four teams in next year’s Group 19 competitions after the club decided to enter the newly-created women’s nine-a-side tackle competition.
This new league will exist alongside the women’s leaguetag competition and female players will be allowed to play in one or both of these competitions.
The club now needs someone to coach one or both of the women’s teams.
Anyone interested can contact the club via Facebook or through the committee.
Guyra will also seek players to form a first grade side and an under 19s team for 2021.
Anthony Dittman will coach the first graders while Beau Orchard will be the U19s’ mentor.
Training is set to commence at a date to be determined, but players are welcome to submit their interest in the meantime.
The club has also appointed Jo Cruickshank as secretary and is now keen to hear from anyone who would like to be a volunteer, especially on game days.

Midweek golf
Another busy couple of weeks of golf. Highest point scorers for the previous week went to Peter Archibald, Sheree Clarke and Wal Chapman with 23 points. Then on 22 points was Andrew Youman, Richard Burey, Vicki Reeves and Lisa Ellis. With 21 points we have Taylor Brennan, Scott Mendes, Leanne Burey, Jack Kliendienst, Debbie Heffernan, Darren Lennon and Neil Paine. And on 20 points were Kerry McFarlane, Dan Lennon, Karen Oehlers, Barry Wilson and Peter Mulligan.
Updating you on this week’s golf scores - competing for the high score of 24 we have Matt McFarlane, Peter Presnell and Wendy George. Next in line on 23 was Logan Beechey, Bob Burey and Jon Cumming. On 22 points we have Ian Taylor and Deb Heffernan. On 21 points were Bob Constance, Wayne Archibald, Paul Redden and Derek Smith. And to round off the scores with the 20 pointers were Tom Skipper, Ian Brown, Neil Paine, Richard Burey, Chris Duthie, Luke Brazier and Beau Orchard. Approx. a third of the players had 20 points or over.
Team and individual scores are gradually creeping up and the extra 2 points for all players putting score cards in is certainly helping. I will give it a couple of more weeks and publish some of the scores before we have a break at Christmas.
Halfway competition - For everyone who was interested in playing in the midweek competition and didn’t get a team together or get their team entered in time we are offering to sponsor a half time winner.
This will be in conjunction with the main winners at the end of the competition.
This means that if you put a team in before Christmas or just put your name/names in the box at the club and if we have extra teams entered for the 9 weeks starting in January then there will be additional prizes for the winners of the second 9 weeks.
NB: you don’t have to be a golfing member to be in this competition just a social or junior member of the Guyra Bowling Club.

Ladies’ Golf
Last week the ladies played a 4BBB Aggregate with Wendy George and Meg Simpson coming out as winners with 69 points.
Nearest the pin winners were Karen Oehlers on the 7th hole, Meg Simpson on the 9th hole, Wendy George on the 10th hole and Jenny Rogers on the 18th hole.
This week is the Par Medal Playoff.
Next week is a stroke and putting competition with Julie Walker as the starter.

Men’s Golf
Last Sunday the largest field for several years turn up for the Brian Lennon Memorial day.
Sixty-nine players took part and the best score of the day went to Dick Burey and Mick Jackson who shot 8 under. Two shots behind were Ian Taylor and Dom Hill. Nett winners were Luke Brazier and Ben McCormack with Robert Moore and Peter Archibald runners up. Nearest to the pins were B J Cameron on the 7th, Bruce Coppock on the 10th and Mick Jackson on the 18th.
A big weekend of golf is coming up with Saturday being the final of the Opal Cove Cup. On Saturday night Presentation night will held and on Sunday a 4BBB par will be played for Ducat’s trophy.
The following Sunday Pennants will be played in Ashford, anyone available to play should let Dick know by this weekend.

Men’s Bowls
Saturday November 21st saw a Major/Minor Pairs played. Dan Kennedy and Grahame Starr played Robert Walls and Steven Sole. This game saw the high standard of bowls in the Club with both teams giving nothing away, Dan and Grahame held a slender lead but by the 10th end the score was even and from then on the both teams went shot for shot. Steven and Robert held their nerve and slowly drew away and by end 25 they had the game in their hands winning 22 shots to 15 shots.
On Sunday November 22nd another Major/Minor Pairs was played. Robert Moore and Cameron Peardon played Steven Sole and Robert Walls. Steven and Robert went into this game on a high after winning a tight game on Saturday. Steven and Robert played as though they had not been off the green but even though they held a handy lead by end 19 they lost their focus and Robert and Cameron nearly snuck under their guard winning the next 6 ends unfortunately coming up just short. Robert and Steven fell over the line in a nail biter 20 shots to 19 shots over 25 ends.

Saturday November 28th: Start: 1.00pm. Starter and Umpire: John Jackson.
In Club Fours: Robert Moore, Boyd Stanley, Geoff Reeves and David Lyes to play John McIlwain, David Wilcox, Cameron Peardon and Roger Cox.
Final Handicap Singles: Dan Kennedy to play Andrew Sparke marker John Jackson.
Just a reminder to all Bowlers: The Guyra Annual Bowls Carnival will get underway with The Women’s Open Triples, Tuesday December 1st entries for this event closes 23.11.20.
Wednesday December 2nd. The Mixed Triples will be played and entries will close 30.11.20.
Any team wishing to take part in either of the above Triples could you please ring the Bowling Club on 6779 1499 during hours.
The Carnival proper will commence Thursday December 3rd and Friday December 4th with the Schweppes Pairs to be played this event has a full field of 32 teams.
The carnival will continue Saturday December 5th and Sunday December 6th with the New England Mutual Triples, at the printing of this report there is only one team required for a full field so if you would like to take part in this event then contact the Bowling Club on the above phone number during hours.

Cricket
Round five of the Armidale competition saw Guyra go down in all three senior games.
The first-grade side was never in the hunt, managing only 48 runs to be all out in the 22nd over. In reply, City passed their total in the 7th over for the loss of just two wickets.
Second grade was more competitive in their game against TAS in the game played on the Guyra Turf. Batting first Guyra were dismissed for 153. DJ Patterson contributed 78 runs to this total to be the best for Guyra.
In reply, TAS passed Guyra in the 26th over with three wickets still in hand. Cody Patterson was the best with the ball taking 4/19.
In third grade, Guyra played Easts who were all out for 160 runs. Best with the ball were Brodi Campbell 2/26 and Mick Shiner 3/18. In reply Guyra fell just short, being all out for 145.
Brock Laybutt contributed 26 with the bat and Dan Vidler 37 to be the best for Guyra.
In Junior games the Under 13s came out on top, defeating TAS. They restricted the opposition to 105 with Jason Mowbray and Jack Soraghan each taking two wickets.
Guyra finished the day on 106 with Angus Dullaway (24), Harrison Brazier (22) and Jason Mowbray (20) the best with the bat.
The Under 11s had mixed results with Guyra 2 ( 100) going  down to Hillgrove fillies (116). Guyra 1 (174) defeated CSC (104).
