Three junior league teams off to grand finals

02nd Sep 2025

Guyra Junior Rugby League will have three teams playing in grand finals matches at Warialda on Saturday. The Intermediate League tag side, who had already booked a spot in the decider, will be joined by both the Senior League tag side and the Under 16s after a couple of great wins in the preliminary finals.
They triumphed in what were brutal conditions at Guyra on the weekend, with freezing winds, sleet and even a few flakes of snow.
The SLT side pulled off a thrilling 24-20 win over Glen Innes, coming back from a 16-0 deficit in the first 15 minutes. The team never gave up, fighting back with key tries and solid defence to edge out Glen Innes and secure their place in the grand final against Inverell.
After a shaky start, Guyra’s grit and composure saw them turn the game around, sealing a well-deserved victory.
The Under 16s battled their way into the grand final after a nail-biting 28-26 win over Glen Innes. Both teams gave everything in a back-and-forth clash that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Glen Innes pushed hard, but Guyra capitalised on key moments, holding their nerve when it mattered most to secure the victory. The boys now set their sights in the grand final against Inverell.
