Anglers Club

Guyra Anglers Club Inc. will be holding their AGM and Presentation Day on Sunday March 6th at the Guyra Hotel. Activities will kick off at 11am with a BBQ and soft drinks provided. The club welcomes you to come and enjoy a celebration of our member’s efforts throughout the year. Prizes will be awarded for the members ‘In house Board’ competition recording biggest fish caught in many categories including Cod, Trout, and every pelagic category thinkable.
Guyra Anglers Club is a positive and proactive Club that encourages children and youth, women, men, and people with disabilities, to engage with a fantastic healthy outdoor lifestyle. We work towards improving and increasing the fish stocks in the local waterways, enriching the habitat into which they go, to bring fishing into the wider community through varied initiatives such as GoneFishing Days.
We are having a wonderful raffle with 15 prizes including Shimano Nasci Reel 2500, Atomic Arrowz rod, swag, Wanderer 3x3m Gazebo, 2 burner Companion stove, Igloo 28L cooler, amongst other great prizes. Tickets can only be purchased on the day, $2 a ticket, of $5 for 3 tickets.
Members please note that subs are due on the day, and a strict two week period applies to being a current financial member, especially significant for Malpas Card members. Mens’ Bowls
No bowls played at the weekend due to the torrential rain. Games set down for this Saturday March 5th with a 1pm start are Michael Shiner will play Andrew Sparke with Roger Cox to mark, Anthony Bull will play Col Stanley with Wayne Reeves to mark, David Wilcox is playing Barry Presnell the marker being John Jackson and Scott Campbell will play Steven Sole with Robert Moore to mark. All games are open singles.

Men’s Golf
On Sunday in wet conditions the club Keno two person ambrose qualifier was played. The winners with a score of 66 nett was Adam Brennan and Steve Wilson. They have now progressed through to the next round to be played at the Longyard in Tamworth. The mixed team qualifiers were Ian Taylor and Debbie Heffernan.
Next Sunday will be the Guy Warskitt memorial 4BBB stableford and also the March Monthly Mug.

Greater Northern Tigers
The Greater Northern Tigers under-16 side continued their winning ways with a four-point win over Newcastle at Tamworth on the weekend. The Tigers won 14-10 after trailing 6-4 at half-time.
Guyra’s reps Archie Dowden, Oscar Atkin and Brodi Campbell all contributed to the game, before Campbell left the field in the second half due to injury.
The Tigers have now won three of their four games in their quest for a finals berth in the Andrew Johns Cup. The under 18s were defeated 34-6.
