Caspers get up in both grades

28th Jun 2023

Guyra United took on East Armidale in both grades at home on Saturday, in what turned out to be scrappy, penalty ridden games. Second grade kicked off the afternoon looking for their second win in row and were first to score, easts hit back with one of their own to level the score at half time.
After the break Guyra took control over their opposition managing two more goals, with an injury to keeper Des Walls, Blake Handebo stood up and filled the gap and along with the backs kept Easts scoreless to come away 3-1 winners.
Next up was first grade who, with over half their regular team out, pulled replacements from lower grades and second divison. The team was undefeated going into the game and looked to keep it going with the first points of the game. With a penalty given to Easts in the box they were able to level the score. The game was back and forth but Guyra managed two more goals from John Kudu and one from a returning player.
With no subs left on the bench due to injury easts managed a second goal, Guyra was able to keep them out to end with a 4-2 win. Both teams head to Inverell this coming weekend hoping to continue their winning ways before a two-week break.
The club would like to remind the junior teams that there is nearly a full round this weekend, with one under six team getting an early mark before all teams have the following two weeks off. We would also like to thank the parents who travelled and some that had split kid locations this past weekend.
