Good field for mixed championships

Winners Christine and Paul Gellie with Darrin Towells
10th Feb 2026

A great field of local players competed in the mixed Championships. With the course presented beautifully, and the weather pristine, scores were always going to be good and this proved the case with six teams finishing within 5 points of each other.
The overall winners for the day were Paul and Chris Gellie with a brilliant score. This proved to be a very popular result with all involved. Runner Up was shared between the teams of Mick and Wendy Jackson and also another popular result of Tom and Tina Skipper.
Nearest the pins were 7th and 18th Darrin Towells, 10th Shona Mulligan and 9th Kerry Bull.
It was great to see everybody enjoy the day and some new players getting involved.
This weekend is the Final Round of the Shire cup with 14 individual Matchplays. The morning will kick off at 9.30 am with a light breakfast for the players before the competition starts. We would like to thank Darrin and Suzanne Towells of New England Autos for the proud sponsorship of this new event which I think will only get bigger every year.
The following weekend is the first and second round of the Men’s Championships which is sure to attract plenty of interest.
We are also asking for the next round of Matchplay to be completed by the 7th of March.
Matches are Robert Moore v Peter Jackson, Darrin Towells v Steve Kliendienst, Neil Paine v Ian Taylor and Adam Brennan v Noah Brennan.
Last but not least the Annual Golf Presentation will be held this Friday night with a 6 for 6.30 pm start at the Guyra Bowling Club. Tickets are to be purchased at the Bowling Club by 6pm Thursday night for catering purposes.
A cost of $35 which puts you in the draw for a free golf membership for the 26-27 season and entertainment supplied by local talent Shane Garrett.
We ask all to come along, presentations include all winners for the past season and the past two Midweek winners also to receive their awards on the night. Hope to see you there
HAPPY GOLFING
