Guyra turns on icy winds and some great football
On Saturday, the icy cold windy day did not slow the Guyra players down. Guyra turned up to play some great football.
The Junior League Tag girls started the day in a high scoring game. Everyone on the team ran the ball with confidence which led to many try’s being scored. Lakia Cutmore had a great game and Eva Atz got herself a try. The score was 44 to 16.
The Under 8s always take to the field with a lot on energy. The cold did not slow them down. The team are improving each week with their tackling skills and supporting each other. Billie Cox got himself a try and a conversion, Jack Newberry also kicked a great conversion.
The Little Chat’s – Under 6s as always had an enjoyable game of football. Each week their knowledge and skills are improving. Lane Cruickshank has worked out how to break the defence running fast. Jackson Perrett with a big smile on his face runs the ball well and enjoys his footy.
Our Intermediated League Tag team has some talent!! All the girls know how to run the ball strongly and back it up with great defence. Indi Roberts got a great tag to stop a try and Elsa Kliendienst crossed the line for a try. Guyra won 24 to 4. The girls take on undefeated Glen Innes this weekend this will be a great game to watch with our girls in good form,
Under 10s loves their footy. Always showing up ready to take the field for their team mates and their coach. Una Ale and Kobie Wilson made some good runs with Connon Bliss and Johnny Lockyer getting in on the action. Keep up the great work.
What a game the Under 12s played. The boys wanted the win on Saturday, and they played to win. Running the ball well through the middle to make good field position. Guyra have been working on their defence at training and this paid off on game day. Ryan Vidler crossed the line for 5 tries but it was a team effort that got them the win 32 to 10.
Each and every week the Under 14s all turn up for each other and their coach. What a great game of footy to watch. The boys where right in the game with the score being 10 all with 5 minutes to go. Everyone put in – holding their defence line and putting on some great tackles. The boys were unlucky in the last 5 minutes letting in two tries. The score was Guyra 10 Armidale 22. The score really does not reflect the effort and great football played by the Under 14s team.
The Senior League Tag team are certainly playing some good football. Everyone on the team is encouraging and giving it their all for their teammates. This resulted in a win for the girls on Saturday. Bree Wilson set up two great tries on the weekend – passing a quick pass to Piper Kempton to score in the corner and breaking the defence and having great support from Chloe Wilson to run away to score. Shelby Heagney stayed strong in the middle tagging well and also crossing the line. A great win Guyra 20 – Armidale 10.
Wow the Guyra Under 16s brought the intensity in the first 10 minutes!! This showed the opposition that they were here to play and win. The forwards Linjarra West, Treigh Bonser-Karhu, Colin Connors, Lachlan Clark and Austin White tore through the Armidale defence right from the get-go. This made it easy for the backs to do whatever they wanted showing the crowd some entertaining football. Coach Todd Clark was very impressed by the team’s efforts and commitment on the field. The game was called off just after half time by Armidale. The score was Guyra 48 – 0.
Again, thank you to very one that turns up on game day and volunteers with setting up the fields, working in the canteen and clean up at the end of the day. It is much appreciated and makes the day enjoyable for everyone.
A big thank you to the crowd that always support our Super Spuds in rain-hail-snow and sometimes shine!!
