Sunday Golf
The Guyra Golf Championships kicked off on Saturday and continued Sunday to complete the first two rounds. A competitive field assembled and all grades are close with the final round to be played on Sunday the 15th of March.

The overall leaders for each Grade are C Grade Beau Orchard leads Trent Mendes by 20,
B Grade Tyson Burey leads Peter Jackson by 6 and A Grade Darrin Towells leads Adam Brennan by 2 with Mick Purvis another 1 behind Adam.
So it is shaping up to be an exciting last round. I will post the time sheet for the Final Round next week.
This weekend is the Guyra United Soccer Club 2 person Ambrose with a 10.30 shotgun start, this means you must be at the club before this time. The following weekend is the Guyra 4bbb Open which is always popular.
We are also looking into having the Vets Stableford Championship on the same day as the final Round of the Club Championship if the interest is there.
Busy time at the moment but another Junior event will be organised as soon as possible so all the kids I will keep you posted.

Anglers Club
Guyra Anglers Club will hold its Annual General Meeting and Presentation Day on Sunday March 15th, starting 11am at the Guyra Bowling and Recreation Club. We welcome our Life Members to join us.
All positions on the Committee will be declared open. If you want to be on the Committee, or become a member, please come along. A BBQ lunch will serve as a break between our meetings and presentation – please RSVP with numbers by March 7th.

Ladies’ Golf
Last week the Ladies played a Par Medal. Kerry Bull was the winner on a countback from Donna White with +3. Wendy George won the nearest the pins on the 7th and 9th holes. Wendy Jackson won on the 18th hole.
This week is the 1st round of the Ladies Championships. The 2nd round is on Saturday and the final round is next Wednesday. Good luck ladies!

Men’s Bowls
Guyra recorded a strong 60-46 win over Armidale City in weekend pennants action. John McIlwain won 27-12, while D. Kennedy won 21-16 and D. Wilcox went down 16-11, Attention now turns to this Saturday’s matches at Glen Innes. The selected teams are: Team 1: J. McIlwain, A. Bull, R. Mulligan, R. Walls. Team 2: R. Moore, S. Campbell, S. Brennan, J. Varco. Team 3: D. Wilcox, P. Johnson, M. Bourke, R. Cox. Players will depart Guyra at 11.30am.

Midweek golf
Midweek finishes this Sunday, 1st March 2026. Once again the team with the highest score was That’s a Gimme on 87 points. Very consistent team and most weeks all the players hand in a card. Next on 79 were Blue Sky closely followed by Baldersleigh Bashers and Full House.
Individual highlights this week went to Sharon Vickery with 25. Well done once again Sharon. On 24 was Harrison Dowden and Michael Jackson. 23 points for Ian Brown, Belinda Williamson and Brock Laybutt. On 22 points were heaps of players – Gus Redgrove, Ollie White, Bailey Wilson, Roger Cox, Ian Taylor, David Brown and Callum Morse.
Will publish final results at end of March. Looking forward to our next comp in October. Good golfing everyone.
